Sneaker Head

No matter how hard I've tried, I just cannot get into the sneaker wedge trend. They look amazing on celebrities and fellow bloggers, but they're not for me, so I took my obsession elsewhere and went back to my tomboy roots with this sportswear inspired look. Let's be real for a second and blame the existing obsession I have with Rihanna, for this new obsession with sportswear, okay? Cool. (Don't be concerned when I start wearing hockey jerseys as dresses... you've all been warned!)

I've been on the hunt for some sleek looking, monochrome trainers ever since Ivana of Love Aesthetics posted this look back in October. Once I found these Nike Roshe Runs, I thought that my search was over... Well, not quite, that would be way too simple! They were sold out absolutely everywhere. Countless visits to downtown Toronto shops and a dozen calls later, I finally have them and I haven't taken them off since. They are single handedly the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned and you're all going to be sick of me posting outfits and photos of these sneakers by the end of this summer because I am OBSESSED! I paired my new Roshe Runs with these black trousers, acid wash t-shirt and holographic clutch for a comfortable, casual weekend look.

You should hire me, I'm cute!

TWO WEEKS! Two weeks until I'm completely finished my 1st degree! I'm excited but I'm also terrified because with this right of passage comes the ultimate hunt for employment. (boo to this life of adulthood... Just kidding!) Which brings me to my question; What do people wear to job interviews these days?

Regardless of what I wear to your interview, I will be showing up in a mini skirt and some variation of mesh during my 1st week on the job. Just being honest... It's out of my power, really. Don't get me wrong, I understand the standards of a professional environment and the whole idea of keeping up appearances while working an office position, but as a 21-year-old design student embarking on the hunt for her dream job, I would be lying to myself (and to my future employer) if I were to show up in anything that didn't represent me, my aesthetic or my personal style.

So, through trial and error, I'm finding the happy medium between professional wear and just completely pushing the envelope off a cliff. I can wear things that I love (like this tie-dye midi skirt from New Look) when hunting, but I must remain realistic in understanding that not everyone is going to appreciate my Give No Fux mentality towards dressing myself! Once I get the job, I'll worry about how far I can push it. Until that moment, this will have to do. I'm still determined to make all of my "unsuitable" items, office appropriate... Crop tops count as business casual, right? ;)

Weekend Casual

I'm pretty fixated on this all white trend right now, but if we're being honest here, I'm actually a complete slob! I can barely keep my black items clean, so as much as I'd like to prance around the city in a head-to-toe white look, the chances of me falling face first into a puddle of mud, pouring grape Crush down the front of my shirt or sitting directly in some bright pink gum are pretty likely... Hence why I opted for just the white jacket today!

If you follow me on Instagram, you've probably noticed that I'm obsessed with this jacket. I love how it takes this otherwise basic, boring weekend casual look, a step above average. There is something about a stark white garment that looks so clean and crisp to me. It looks effortless without trying nearly as hard as you would have to with any other color, so when Addition Elle gave me the chance to pick items from their spring collection, this was my first choice.
