A Summer of Shorts & Stripes

Orange Shorts ASOS | Stripe T-shirt H&M | Fox Tail, Bag & Sunglasses eBay| Shoes Jeffrey Campbell

I started my summer job last month, as you can tell by the lack of posts, and I've been encouraged to wear "appropriate" outfits, daily. I work in an office, so the dress code consists of dress pants, dark wash denim, empire waist dresses, button down shirts, cardigans; pretty much the regular boring business casual code. It's no where near strict, but because we are a company that deals with children and parents, we need to come off somewhat presentable.

I made it my goal to make the clothing I wear outside of work, work appropriate. I thought I'd bring some color to my boring beige cubical today with these bright orange linen shorts from ASOS. I'm sure half of my coworkers thought I was crazy, but I received quite a few complements from staff, supervisors, and a few parents passing through.

Also, stripes & shorts has pretty much become my go-to summer outfit. It's a major improvement from my regular hot-summer-day look: A white t-shirt, denim shorts, hair in a bun & flip flops!

Not Exactly Your Prima Ballerina

Black Tutu eBay | Plaid Blazer Thrifted | Tank Evans | Shoes BFT | Bag Dorothy Perkins

HELLO everyone! How are you all doing!? I feel like I've awakened from the dead or something, it's been way to long since I've posted anything. As you can tell from the aimless power cord in the background, I'm scrambling to work out the lighting and location of my outfit photos. Things have been hectic and I've been left without a place to take photos or a person to take them for me... #LifeStoryOfABlogger!

I've always wanted a tutu. I'm pretty sure it stems back to my childhood days of dress up, but it was something I was determined to find, and make work for my body type. I'd been eying the popular petticoat from American Apparel for months, but it just didn't fit how I'd like it too. I also couldn't justify spending $80 on a skirt I would wear 3 or 4 times. So I hopped on over to eBay and found this lovely black layered tutu (in plus sizes!) and thought I'd give it a shot. For $18, I was willing to take the risk of it being a disaster!
